Puppies are loved, tiny little creatures. National figures indicate that about half of the animals in shelters must be euthanized for lack of homes. Maximus loves toys of all types, and particularly enjoys squeaky toys (we’ll even send him home with a lifetime supply!). Sadly – funding and support is just not there for us to continue taking in the volumes of animals that people want us to. Our Sanctuary spends in excess of $100,000 a year taking care of these animals.

It is important that you carefully consider what your lifestyle is & what type of dog would fit into it. Animal shelters are places where unwanted, stray, or abandoned animals are provided a home, mostly a temporary one, until a permanent home can be found. I want to adopt a small breed of dog.

Chihuahuas are small, playful and easy to train dogs, that make perfect apartment pets. They always have dogs and cats, but you’ll sometimes find other animals there as well – rabbits, ferrets, and even iguanas. Adoption events are often busy, so please be prepared to wait a small amount of time to meet a puppy and talk to one of our adoption counselors.
