This is the first in a series of articles on the deadly disease, Canine Parvovirus. Animal shelters, unlike what these myths say, have healthy animals. All of us spend countless hours trying to save the lives of animals (and may I note that we should forget the CATS which make up the majority of our homeless animals) and now we get to spend even more just to do what we had been doing before.

Two years ago, when I was preparing to move across the country and buy a house, I poured over Petfinder, looking at all the adorable dogs up for adoption. We have also contacted Petfinder on several occasions as well as contacting a representative of the Maddies Foundation who is on the Shelter Pet Project.

2 – MISSTATEMENT: When people have asked why they are doing this, Petfinder has stated only that automatic updates from RescueGroups does not fit their current business model as a reason for suddenly blocking them. We have been receiving many calls from people looking to place their cats in our shelter and we are at capacity at the moment. pet finder

My first experience with a deaf dog occurred when I was about 16 years old and my family decided to adopt a dog from a local Humane Society. Because of your support, the thousands of animals who walk through our doors every year find loving homes. Animal shelters usually have puppies, mature dogs and purebreds to select from and will allow people to spend time with a dog before adopting. This solution does not sit well with many animal-lovers and the people who work with animals. dog adoption

A remarkable number of people who have adopted say that their chosen dog stood out like a sore thumb. A mill, on the other hand, breeds dogs for money. Costs can be high, as a number of dogs require expensive surgical care to rehabilitate injuries like fractures or ligament damage which have ended their careers. dog adoption

Rescues that make a concerted effort to save dogs from euthanasia at shelters are more people friendly and understand that their first goal needs to be getting these animals into loving homes. These otherwise wonderful dogs may be dumped at a shelter or abandoned by the owner or a family member.
